Meet the baroudeur. A rider who is not afraid of a long hard day in the breakaway. They know they might not be the fastest sprinters or the best climbers, so they focus on long and tough challenges instead. They don’t win big prizes, but every now and then, their determination pays off.

When a “baroudeur” wins, it usually signifies a truly impressive and epic victory that leaves a lasting impression.

A rider who is born with an infinite engine. It gives him/her the energy and power to maintain a consistently high pace over long distances, effortlessly gliding over rolling terrain with a blend of power and finesse.
This type of rider can set the tempo for the team to control the race dynamics or go for glory with a solo attack from far out.

A rider who stands out on steep inclines.
Their acceleration and agility enables them to launch lightning-fast and powerful attacks to distance the competition on hilly terrain. With its mythical finish on the Mur de Huy, La Fleche Wallonne is one of the most iconic races for the puncheurs in the peloton as the final climb features sections of over 20%.

No, we’re not only talking about Merckx, Van Impe or Boonen. Here on our Belgium soil, cycling isn’t just a sport, it’s in our DNA and it’s all about passion and heritage. It’s about who we are, it’s our Belgian religion. Standing next to the course or just in front of the television, our prayers/cheering to push our cycling gods towards their next heroic triumph forms the heartbeat that connects our cycling nation.
